Assistant: Hello! Electrotrade Household Items Store, can I help you?
Customer: Hello, it’s Cindy Miller. I bought a washing machine at your shop two weeks ago, and now it apparently denied all action.
Assistant: What make is it?
Customer: It’s a Bosh 513.
Assistant: You say it does not work at all?
Customer: Yes. I plug it in, switch it on, and it does nothing.
Assistant: I see. We can send a repairman sometime this week. Well, let me check the schedule…. He can come either on Wednesday morning or Thursday evening. Which would suit you better?
Customer: I’d prefer him to come on Thursday evening.
Assistant: OK. Can you tell me your address, please?
Customer: 13 George Street. It’s the house right beside the post office. It says Miller&Barnes on the doorbell.
Assistant: Thank you. Our repairman will be there sometime between 6 and 7.30 pm on Thursday.
Customer: All right, thank you.

Assistant: What can I do for you?
Customer: Well, something is wrong with this camera. It does not operate properly.
Assistant: Did you purchase this camera here?
Customer: Yes, about three months ago.
Assistant: It is under warranty then.
Customer: Yes. Here is the warranty.
Assistant: Thank you. Could you tell me what the problem is?
Customer: Well, after a while it slowed down, and by now it simply cannot be switched on.
Assistant: Did you drop it or hit it against anything?
Customer: Oh, never. I have always taken special care not even to scratch it.
Assistant: We can take a look at it at the repair shop and see what we can do.
Customer: Oh, great. There are still supposed to be pictures on the memory card though.
Assistant: No problem about that. As soon as we can get this camera to work, your pictures will be saved to a CD. You can pick up both in a week’s time. Is that OK for you?
Customer: Yes, perfectly. Thank you!
Assistant: Not at all!

Artie (13 years old): Oh, yes please. I got this electronic scooter form my parents for my birthday, but something is wrong with it.
Assistant: What’s that?
Artie: First it started to make funny sounds and then the wheels slowed down. It has completely given up by now.
Assistant: Oh, yes, you are not the first to come back with this problem. I guess it’s a serial error that occurred during the manufacturing process. It cannot be repaired. But we can exchange it.
Artie: Does this mean that I can get another brand-new scooter?
Assistant: As long as this one is under warranty, yes you can.
Artie: Great! But I’ll have to ask my parents first. Is it OK if I come back later on today?
Assistant: Certainly. You are such a brave big boy!
