Belépők, nyitva tartás
The permanent exhibitions of the state galleries and museums in Hungary are free to attend at any time. For visiting the periodical exhibitions one must buy tickets, which can also be ordered by phone or on the internet. In Budapest there are central ticket selling offices where you can plan what places of interest are worth to see and ticket to most of the museums can be bought.
In most galleries special tickets are offered for students, pensioners, professionals and their families.
Certain museums choose to draw more attention by reducing admission fees. There are places where for example on Friday evenings from 5:45–7:45 PM the museum hosts so called pay what you wish programmes, where admission is by donation.
Museums and their exhibitions are traditionally closed on Mondays and the opening hours can be quite different, so it is highly advisable to get information about the institutions’ working order in advance. Talking of trade exhibitions which are actually the most effective mediums for establishing and maintaining customer relations, the opening hours usually depend on the theme of the exhibition. In the case of a four day exhibition for example the first day is always secured for professionals and the media. From the second day on the so called public days visitors can question, challenge and debate, and exhibitors can give and seek information.
Katalógusok, prospektusok
Catalogues provide general orientation at exhibitions. Modern exhibitions are always accompanied by a major catalogue, often an online one too.
Illustrated exhibition catalogues, leaflets often dispersed at the very entrance of the fair can have the first impression on visitors. A modern, clear design is supposed to attract customers to the exhibitors’ stands.
The catalogue may feature a lead essay – if it is a museum catalogue, by an exhibiting artist – and exhibition's curator’s words. A descriptive, fully illustrated, sometimes scholarly catalogue with photos, documents and other materials can grow to a several hundred pages booklet.
Catalogues and other exhibition publications may be purchased in the museum or gallery, or charged by phone or email. Catalogue CD-s are also more and more available.
Szórólapok, brosúrák
Educational and other leaflets, information sheets, posters, press releases and other printed materials provide a direct connection to the visitors.
An exhibition leaflet can provide a short list of the exhibits.
On museums’ websites an electronic version of the exhibition leaflet is available. Leaflets are actually issued in order to give visitors a quick guide to the exhibition, they can be found at special standing racks at the entrance or can be dispersed by hostesses.
Posters, standing banners, information materials all have the same function: to draw visitors’ attention, and to give them general information about the exhibited products, works.
Promotional brochures, notices or reference guides are all advertisement tools.
