Sales Director: Hello. This is Paul Miller from Sony Sound Technologies Plc. I wonder if I could talk to someone about ordering a commercial for the Internet.
Advertising Agent: Yes, of course. Good morning, sir. This is Suzy Brown. Could you go into more details, please?
Sales Director: Yes, we’d like you to make an advertisement showing a picture of our latest model, a television set, Sony – XCM 52 PS. It’s a huge set with a plasma screen. The letters of the brand name should be moving across the screen. In my opinion, the colour of these letters should be pink.
Advertising Agent: Well, first of all, I should talk to our graphic designer. Would it be all right if I called you back in about half an hour? I think I might be able to send you 2 or 3 versions of this commercial via an e-mail, as well.
Sales Director: Oh yes, that would be perfect!

Informing the Customer: Multimedia (PowerPoint Presentations and the Internet)
Marketing Manager 1: I’m sure all of us in this room are well aware of the fact that multimedia, that is, sounds and pictures on the screen, on the Internet, or projected on the wall have a great influence on our target groups. Our customers click on different websites or look at screens that are placed in shop windows every day.
Marketing Manager 2: Yes, I totally agree with you. Actually, I’d go further saying that about 80% of effective advertisements appear in an electronic format, in the shape of visual images or sounds that are often combined with pictures. A recent survey showed that 77% of customers in Western Europe get informed about new products through different multimedia systems.
Listener: Am I too sceptical about this issue if I say there’s no escape from the deluge of commercials that we perceive through different multimedia systems?
Marketing Manager 1: Well, in a way you’re right. But the conclusion is that certain filters should be built in lest this deluge of ads, as you’ve put it, should completely destroy people’s privacy. Even though I’m looking at it from the other side, I admit that people should have the right to privacy.

Marketing Manager: Let me start my presentation by showing you a short commercial on these four screens. As you can see some of the discounted AFE Cosmetics Products, including AFE skincare and healthcare products.
This young couple are walking along the beach in the area of Devil’ Dyke. Only a light breeze is blowing, and the sun is shining. The woman sits down on a rock and offers some AFE suntan lotion to her boyfriend.
Participant: Oh yeah, it seems to b very effective! I‘m sure quite a lot of customers will get into the mood of buying some AFE skincare products after seeing this commercial.
Marketing Manager: All in all, we might draw some conclusions from what we’ve seen so far. The four television screens must be placed above the demonstration area in a shop where several items that the particular shop is discounting at the moment are shown. The best result, concerning the increase of sales, can be achieved if these commercials are combined with a PowerPoint presentation on the discounted products. We have found that displaying products this way can increase sales of certain items by 700-900%.
