Az MNB devizagazdálkodási hatásköre
The NBH is the central authority of foreign exchange controls and therefore it is entitled to decide to take up foreign loans. Financial institutions are to draw foreign loans subject to approval by the NBH. The NBH is also responsible for the provision of the amount of foreign currency that is needed by the country.

The National Bank of Hungary is the central bank of Hungary and as such, that of the national economy. The NBH is responsible for issuing bank notes and coins, handling gold and foreign exchange reserves. As the country’s central bank it supports the formulation and implementation of the government’s monetary policy by:
-the regulation of lending and refinancing,
-establishing interest rate and exchange rate policy,
-prescribing compulsory reserve requirements,
-effecting open market operations.
The NBH has the exclusive right to:
-handle the state’s international reserves,
-supervise the country’s banking system,
-act as an exchange control authority.
Az MNB legfontosabb szakmai feladatai
The most important technical responsibilities of the NBH are:
-to regulate capital- and credit outlay by way of monetary means
-to maintain economic balance by ensuring monetary balance
-to implement the monetary policy by refinancing, regulating compulsory liquidity reserves of financial institutes, setting and influencing interest and official rates
-to discount securities in the framework of refinancing
-to set and declare foreign currency exchange rates
-to apply base rate, current rates, discount rates, penalty interest rates
-to set certain compulsory interest rates to be applied by financial institutes
-to prescribe reserve requirements for financial institutes to be deposited with the NBH.
